Somalia, located in Eastern Africa, is officially known as the Republic of Somalia. Agriculture is the most important and economically active sector. Livestock, particularly cattle, camels, sheep and goats are the main source of generating revenues. Unexploited deposits of mineral resources include uranium, petroleum and natural gas. Somalia also has a small fishing industry and the main catches are tuna and shark. Due to the large coastline, fishing industry has a huge potential for growth. The country has some small industries including sugar refining, textiles, petroleum refining and wireless communication. |
